F*ck the Oscars and Watch These Seven Films Instead

1. Instead of The Help Watch Pariah

One is about white people fixing racism. The other is about a young black woman wrestling with her sexuality. One is basically the only story Hollywood is comfortable telling when it comes to race and the other is a wonderful film that will hit you in the gut and will never be made in the Hollywood because it is about a person of color (strike one!) who isn’t in poverty (strike two!) who is gay (strike three you’re out!).

How wonderful would it have been if Pariah (also directed and written by a woman!) had gotten anywhere near the same Oscar love as The Help?
